Gen-Y Rock Stars and Role Models
I've been on my Rock Star kick lately and after reading an article someone passed to me, seeing previews for the new movie Role Models and my post on The Rock Star Lifestyle, I thought I would share a few quick words on what I think stars, athletes, musicians, movie stars and others have a responsibility towards Gen-Y and youth in general. Enjoy!

most of the people that I know who do have a shot of being a "rockstar" are oblivious to the fact that they can do things that they "think" about doing with just a little spare time and extra hard work.
I agree with you completely - a real "rockstar" is someone who cares and tries to give something to the community, contribute something to society, whatever that may be.
Most people could care less, especially those who actually have the resources to do so. I find it funny that those who do actually try to contribute are those who don't have the funds to do so!
Hey Eric,
That's a good point. Most "Rock Stars" are too caught up in the moment to realize they have an opportunity to make a difference and surround themselves with people that are very ego-centric and money hungry. They see charity work and giving back as something that gets in the way of making money and building up that ego.
The no funds part was good too. It's because they don't have the funds that allow them to focus on things that could build their reputation and gain free publicity by aligning themselves with these organizations.
I enjoyed your views Greg, I also think there is a bit of a "Rockstar Movement" in business in general, especially with generation y. Entrepreneurs who project a rockstar aura/image are definitely more successful with generation Y too, as business becomes cool and meshes with popular culture! E.g we can see trends such as Richard Branson and his publicity acts, entrepreneurial celebrities who launch highly successful businesses and impact the world like Madonna.
