New Music Economy Webinar Monday, February 15

Hey all,

Just wanted to drop a quick note to say that on Monday night, February 15th, I will be hosting a webinar on the New Music Economy - an Internet Marketing approach for musicians. This is some really cool brand new material that I think is going to help a lot of musicians.

You can go ahead and pre-register now as I am expecting the lines to fill up pretty quickly.

There is going to be some information on list building, where the money is coming from and how to create products that your fans actually want to buy from you.

Grab a seat now and I'll see you on Monday!

Lots of Cool Stuff For Young Business People

The Rock Star Business Series is gearing to open up to new members and this time it's bigger than ever. I can't reveal all the intricacies of what the members are going to get, but I can get you excited to get some cool free stuff while we prepare to do the biggest launch the Gen-Y niche has ever seen.

Right now, Matt has a short little video about wasting time and a Blatant Opt-in Box where you can get to the super secret backstage page.

Yea, we're bribing you to get cool stuff. I think its pretty fair. Right now you can get your hands on an SEO report, social media time wasters to avoid and a video that may change the way you learn stuff.

More info to come soon, but for now, I'd love it if you signup and get involved. There has never been a better time to start a business or build a brand.

Gen-Y is beyond educated, ambitious and really cares about what they do for a living. You have so many advantageous, but you need to take some action.

Anyway, have a great week. I'll still be enjoying the warn Florida weather, wake skating at the lake (still the worst wake skater I know) and working with tons of young people to get off the XBox and into someone they love doing.

Gen-Y Rock Stars Tool Kit

Gen-Y Rock Stars Logo | Music Marketing
We have just released another cool resource from Gen-Y Rock Stars for musicians looking to maximize their online efforts. The Gen-Y Rock Stars Tool Kit is a fresh check list of services, tools and topics that should be utilized by the modern musician.

Our last release, the 100 Social Media Resources for Musicians has been downloaded over 1,000 times and one of the biggest responses that we got was

"Greg, this list is huge. Where do I start?"
That's where the idea for this came from. We launched it last week to our subscribers and blog readers and it has been great so far.

You can download it for free by inserting your name and e-mail address in the box below (or by clicking here to read more bad sales copy from me). The secure download is hosted by Box.net.

Any musicians out there, I would love your feed back on both the 100 Resources and the Tool Kit so that we can improve our free tools for musicians. We are going to be increasing these tools and guides ten fold over the next few weeks and they will be exclusive for subscribers only.

Now that I got my sales rant done for the day, I will see you all next week as I travel over to Miami for BarCamp Miami and FOWA. Looking forward to reconnecting with a bunch of people and meeting some great new ones.

Gen-Y Rock Stars and Role Models

I've been on my Rock Star kick lately and after reading an article someone passed to me, seeing previews for the new movie Role Models and my post on The Rock Star Lifestyle, I thought I would share a few quick words on what I think stars, athletes, musicians, movie stars and others have a responsibility towards Gen-Y and youth in general. Enjoy!

Living Like a Rock Star

Rock For Hunger Fest 3 | Ending Homelessness in Orlando, FL
I always love the weeks leading up to Rock For Hunger Fest. I mean, who wouldn't love no sleep, constant stress over paying the bands, the venue, raising money for the cause, unrolling new technology, selling tickets, organizing 100 volunteers, getting photographers, videographers, setting the band times, t-shirt designs, badges, oh crap no money and keeping Chris focused.

These things might make you go crazy considering this is something I volunteer for in addition to the 2 jobs that sometimes pay the rent.

But there is one thing that keeps me going. Bringing my Rock Star life into the lives of others.

Rock For Hunger on Rollins Radio 91.5(Me, Chris and Jessie McGuire at WPRK Studios)

Late last night before our interview with Rollins Radio, Chris and I were sitting in my office talking about the future. The future of everything from Endagon to a a venture of our own to going back to school. After making a mess on the table to where you wouldn't know it was a glass desk, I blurted out,
"I want to make everyone around me live a Rock Star Life."

That's when things got interesting.

Rock For Hunger

Every Monday when we feed the homeless we have the opportunity to make every person there FEEL like a rock star that night. WE have that power, the volunteers, teh board members, the staff and everyone else there. The food is the headliner for these individuals, but everyone has a hell of a lot of fun at concerts that has nothing to do with the music.

Think about it. Warped Tour brings you more activities than you can go through if you were there for a week. Trust me Chris and Logan know first hand. They have games, giveaways, listening stations, autograph sessions and so much more.

Look at every concert that you go to. Think about the conversations that you have waiting in line. The energy that you have while dancing, throwing your hands in the air, the laughter and the stress free environment.

Making every Monday night an experience for everyone involved will help create a brand around Rock For Hunger. A brand that people will want to be a part of. Where volunteers will never leave without thinking, holy shit, I changed someone's life, had a good time, heard great music and will remember this event for the rest of my life.

Clients
Making all of my clients feel like Rock Stars is another goal I have for myself. It may not be a stage with thousands of sweating fans, but a blog post that gets 20 comments and 5 sales is Rock Star status for small businesses. Having them feel the appreciation, the strength and reach that is possible with a little technique and planning, will instill not only confidence in that individual but for that team as a whole.

It's kinda like hip-hop. 50 Cent blows up and takes his crew with him. Now Llyod Bands, Tony Yayo and company are starts in their own right and their magic spreads far beyond that of just 50. Companies can feel this same power as one person lands a monster sale and passes their excitement on to the rest of the office. Rock Star status is contageous.

Rock Star status is a feeling
The feeling you get when you are so proud of your accomplishments that others recognize it for you. Being the voice in a PodCast. Meeting new colleagues, business associates or prospects on a Social Network and having the power to control the conversation. Recognition in your local community.
"Hey that's Jim the Realtor."
"Heck yea, I'm Jim the Realtor, I know this community and I can help you know it too!"

I have had some great moments being in the spotlight and I know just how amazing that feeling is. Giving that feeling to someone else is one of the most powerful things I have to offer!

My Rock Star Life
So as I roll on with the Rock For Hunger promotions in this stretch run, look at how much fun and excitement is in my voice as we roll through XL 106.7, Real Rock 101.1, Podcasts, Video Interviews, blog posts, interviews and other "Rock Star" like experiences.

I'll be thinking about you the whole time and how by being in my position, I can help you too. That's what I have to offer. Come and take it from me.

How big of a Rock Star do you want to be?

Gen-Y Rock Stars + Free eBook

Greg Rollett | The P. Diddy of Social Media | Take That, Take ThatSome of you already know this and some may not so here is my official/unofficial press release for Gen-Y Rock Stars.

What is Gen-Y Rock Stars?
I have officially launched a new site entitled Gen-Y Rock Stars, geared towards helping musicians understand and use Social Media tools to make their music careers better. I am trying to write 2-3 great posts a week and have some amazing topics, friends, interviews and sneak peeks into some great sites for musicians.

The site has a purpose for me as well. I am trying to make a dollar out of fifteen cents. This site is a for profit site and I am using all of my knowledge in SEO, Social Media and Internet Marketing to help pay the car payment. Read about the full disclosure on this post from Gen-Y Rock Stars.

The methods behind the Gen-Y Rock Star is that the modern musician is changing. You no longer need a machine to pump your product out to a bunch of kids with allowance. While I am not totally offing the major labels, I am saying that by creating some kick ass music and working your ass off to meet, chat with , stumble across, digg, vlog, live stream and play for you can create an income that will let you continue playing music instead of beating your head into a desk and kicking your cubicle with your ADD.

The Free eBook
To kick start the promotions for the site, I have released a FREE eBook entitled, 100 Social Media Resources for Musicians. To get it, all you need to do is sign-up to the Gen-Y Rock Stars Mailing List and boom, you get the guide. Simple stuff here folks.

The eBook is filled with sites, blogs, communities, stores and more, ranging from larger than life to niche specific to everything in between. The goal is to open your horizons and see that you can meet a fan anywhere, on ay site at anytime. This doesn't just go for music, but everything and Social Media has been the catalyst.

But what about SkatterBand?
For some that are subscribed to SkatterBand or thought that was my Music Marketing outlet, well, times have changed. The project is moving very slow for my liking and I do have 2 great writers giving some great content that fovus both on music marketing and music reviews/interviews. My writing for the site though will be no more.

Will posts here stop or not be about music?
No and no. The music I write about here will be more personable and focus on advertising and social media aspects that people are doing with their music. That's kinda been the case for a while now. I haven't done many tutorials or site structures in a while, so don't expect anything new or old in that department here.

Just good ol' Gen-Y, Music and Social Media from the P. Diddy of Social Media.

Go sign-up and get your free eBook and spread it to anyone that may learn something from it. It's actually kinda good, minus the lame title.
